One of the sources I have found is a book titled "Libraries & Democracy: The Cornerstones of Libety." Edited by Nancy Kranich, the book is a product of the American Library Association. Each chapter promotes the notion that libraries serve as a beacon to promote the ideals of democracy and liberty among American citizens. It has been an excellent source thus far, and I imagine I will use it for my class paper.
I have selected this topic because of two projects I am currently working on for the library at which I work. The library currently provides free access to the various components of the judicial process in Mississippi such as case briefs and video of oral arguments before the Mississippi Supreme Court. Prior to this project, these items were not readily available to the average citizen. The library's project has changed this, and the library has decided to create a similar project for the state legislative branch. I look forward to writing about these projects and how libraries can use such projects to promote democracy through the use of technology.
